As the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bolton, our institution is well-equipped to deliver a high-quality Medical School that would benefit our students and the wider community. At the Institute of Medicine (IoM), we are committed to providing top-quality education and training to future healthcare professionals. Our mission is to equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in their chosen careers and to make a difference in the lives of their patients.

Our faculty is made up of experienced healthcare professionals who are passionate about teaching and who are dedicated to helping our students succeed. They bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our programmes, and they are committed to providing personalised support to each and every student. 

The University has an established and highly regarded Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, which provides exceptional training to our students and has a proven track record of delivering innovative, evidence-based health training.

The Institute of Medicine will build upon the reputation of the Faculty of Health in delivering excellent undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Medicine.

Our programmes are designed to be rigorous, challenging, and relevant to the needs of the healthcare industry. We offer a range of undergraduate and graduate programmes in fields such as medicine, nursing and radiology, among others. 

The establishment of our new Medical School at The Institute of Medicine, pending GMC approval, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to advancing medical education and healthcare.

As the Pro Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Medicine, I cannot overstate my enthusiasm for the launch of our Medical School. This venture is a testament to our dedication to excellence and innovation in medical education, as well as our unwavering belief in the transformative power of healthcare.

Our vision for this new endeavor is nothing short of extraordinary. We aim to nurture the next generation of healthcare leaders, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and compassion necessary to make a profound impact on the lives of patients and communities. Our curriculum is designed to foster holistic, compassionate and patient-centred care, critical thinking, cultural competence and a deep sense of responsibility to society.

Key Objectives

The Institute of Medicine will strengthen the University of Bolton’s strategic aim of sustainable business growth by introducing prestige medical programmes to satisfy the increasing demands in the healthcare system.

Building on the experience of the University of Bolton in establishing programmes of excellence in health and well-being, we are well placed to develop an Institute of Medicine.  This will be achieved by establishing its three integral components:

Postgraduate Medical School

A Postgraduate School of Medicine delivering global healthcare programmes for medical and healthcare workers.

Undergraduate Medical School

An Undergraduate School of Medicine leading to an internationally recognised medical degree in accordance with the criteria set by the General Medical Council (GMC) for the establishment of new medical schools.

Institute of Research

An Institute of Research that embraces local expertise and aspirations.

OUR VISION IS TO ESTABLISH A CENTRE OF MEDICAL EXCELLENCE WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY OF BOLTON AND ITS PARTNER HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, REFLECTING THE NEEDS OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY BY THE YEAR 2030.
